Historic Restoration
East Village Church
A 1906 San Diego landmark moved 100 feet and fully restored — preserving a century of history for future generations.
Moving History Forward
The East Village Church, built in 1906, stood as one of San Diego's oldest surviving religious structures. When redevelopment threatened its original site, ZMK Construction led a remarkable effort to physically relocate the entire building 100 feet — preserving its historic fabric while preparing it for a new chapter.
The project required meticulous structural engineering, careful shoring, and a precise relocation sequence to move the century-old wood-frame building without compromising its original materials or character-defining features.
Following the move, ZMK performed a comprehensive restoration: repairing original siding, windows, and trim; reinforcing the structural system; and restoring the building's historic exterior appearance to match archival documentation.
